Jan. 31, 2008 picture

This is my mom's first Great-Grandchild... she is a tiny little thing. She is 3 1/2 months old and finally 8lbs. 3 oz. They say she getting bigger and bigger all the time. This was taken on Chrsitmas Day. She's all the way in Idaho... another big thing we're missing. Texas is great though... I can't wait to go back for a visit.

This is "Rainbow Bridge" by Smith's Ferry. I hear that there is a lot more snow now. This was taken a few days after Christmas, 2007. It's a little blurry. I took it from a moving car, through a window.

This is an old one... S took this picture the day before I went back to Texas this summer. You can see my lovely sling for my arm. This picture... I think... shows the differences between us. My hair is longer now. So I look more like her.

Here's another goody from my files... I decided that these pictures are to cool to just keep to myself. This is E's first day of school. I got to pick her up from school on her first day. She knew her teacher (Mrs.)... she had been S's teacher... so E had experienced her at S's parties. Mrs. had been in party mode before. This day was the first... it was laying down the law day. Rules, and mean Mrs., E didn't like it. After this picture she got in the car and said, "WELL, she was a little cranky!" I laughed... she was irriated with me for laughing at her. She didn't think it was funny, she didn't know if school was going to be fun. She has that little tinkle in her eyes. She is a beautiful little girl and I miss her and all my nieces and nephews. That is the hardest part of being in Texas.

Still a picture from my files... Today was so beautiful in Texas. 75 degrees and glorious :) I took this picture of E back in Idaho. It's the fish in front of Howdy's in Cascade. I didn't think to make her put her coat on. I'm a bad aunt. That's snow behind her. We were both freezing... nothing like Texas. Even when it's cold here it's still about 40 degrees... and that feels REALLY cold. We think the humidity makes it cold in your bones. In Idaho it is about 13 degrees. Sorry... this is the cool part about being in Texas in the winter time.

Still not up to taking new pictures (I'm not crying right now)... so here is another goody from my files. This is my "little" brother. This is what I gave him for his birthday, a giant stuffed fish, about 5-6 feet long. It was big and ugly... made me think of him. Just kidding.... he loved it. The next time I went to his house (a couple of days later) it was hang on the dinning room wall. There was a little bear riding it. His sister-in-law (who he lives with) declared that it doesn't get to live there. I'm back in Texas... I wonder if it's still there???

I made a rag quilt for a very cute 12 year old. She is my friend's daughter and I wanted to make her something special for her. She liked it... I'm glad. It's made of flannel. Pink and brown is the new "black"... yesterday I went to her "party" it was really going to the store and spending her birthday money. It was fun... I like to hang out with their family. The Reed's are great.

This are some great boots. They are actually J's (my twin sister) she's showing them off. She loves them. She usually doesn't wear them with her pants on the inside. Who knows, she is a trend setter... This picture was taken in Idaho at Christmas time. She got them for her birthday.

This big guy was at the San Antonio Zoo... it was July... VERY hot... doesn't he look hot. We were sweating and we weren't dressed that warm. The San Antonio Zoo is the biggest zoo we've ever been to. It was so cool. This is such a neat picture. I thought I would share it with you. I'll try to get back into the new pictures soon.

This is was the first impression we had of Texas. This picture was taken on the drive to San Antonio, outside of El Paso, Texas. There is a LOT of nothing for a very long time.... like 10 hours. I was so disappointed there weren't any cows. One time we could smell cows... you all know the smell... we were looking around frantically... but they were on a truck in front of us. We passed them and the smell went away. False alarm. We actually saw tons of goats... no cows. They'll eat anything... even if there nothing but cactus. Evidently we live in the wrong part of Texas for cows. This weekend is the Stock show and Rodeo... It seems to be a big deal. Who knew??? since I can't get around very well, we aren't going. My leg is feeling great as long as I don't put any weight on it. I can crutch just fine now... but my arm wants to break. That's not great. (It's the one I broke this summer.)

I'm still not up to doing much more than going to Physical Therapy and the doctor, so I don't have a new picture for today... I thought I would show y'all some of Texas. This is the Alamo. That's a bunch of people I don't know. You can't take pictures inside the Alamo because is considered a shrine... it is actually a church. Men are asked to take their hats off, and everyone is expected to show respect for all the people who were killed there. Texans regard this place as the start of the fight for freedom from Santa Anna. They lost and every man died... but they ticked them off so bad that they kicked their butts after that. Some women were hiding in a small room and survived the attack. We went and watched a movie about the battle of the Alamo at the I-MAX theater. It was very loud. Cool.. but loud.

Once again... not a new picture... but a goody. This is S and E's birthday presents... we went to build a bear... and "came out with something besides his coat." That is "Serena" the dog and "Way to Fast" the monkey. Grandma J bought them some p.j. ... Serena changes her clothes about 4 times a day. Way to Fast... ("Fast" for short) only changes once... if he has time. I think that was one of the best birthday gift I ever gave.
Today is Sunday... it's time to take a nap :)

Jan. 19, 2008 picture

This little guy was in my sink. Maybe it's a cockroach... I don't know. I hate weird looking bugs.

Jan. 18, 2008 picture

This is my lovely new brace that I have to wear for 3 MONTHS... It's hot and not fun. My arms are doing better. I can work the crutches pretty good... at least I don't feel like I'm going to fall on my face so much. My left arm thinks it might break again... sometimes. It will get better.

Jan. 17, 2008 picture

I broke my leg... I now my life is a little slower than it used to be. So I didn't get a picture taken this day. So I decided that I would pick a picture from my huge file. This is "Pie Day"... we had so much fun. E and Grandma made some great memories. Boy, she a count'in girl. Maybe 13 really can exist now. She has allowed it to be.
This is my sister's, my niece's, and my Grandma... the day before Thanksgiving. "Pie Day"

Jan. 16, 2008 picture

This is trees in the "winter" in Texas. Look at them... they still have their leaves. This is actually a Live Oak. The bend and twist every which way. They're actually pretty cool. People have told me that in the spring the new leaves come and push old off... we haven't been here for a spring yet. So we'll see. Till then we'll enjoy the pretty trees in winter in Texas.

Jan. 15, 2008

I thought I would show you our washer and dryer. It's outside. It looks like it should be a closet, but BAM... it's not. To left is the fence. It's dark outside. It's kind of inconventient... you can't streak to the dryer if your shirt is in it. It would be quite a display for the neighbors anyway.
Someday... soonish... we will have a real house... without upstairs neighbor.

Ok... most of you know that I hurt my knee. Today I went back to the doctor because it hurt so bad. She gave me shots of Cortisone in both knees and then sent me to get a MRI on my right knee. It turns out that I broke it. I have a stress fracture in my tibula. Splitting it down from the knee down. I see an orthopedic surgeon tomorrow to see the rest of the damage. Here's a very unflattering picture of me with crutches... With my recently broken shoulder... it's feeling great though... it should be fun to see how this is all going to work out. HA, HA... (not)

Jan. 13, 2008 picture

Ok... my plants are finally done having the little "dung gnat" coming out of them. I figured out what was wrong and got some good non-toxic spray to kill the little boogers... I took the sad, sad plant outside again. And now it's happy. :)

Grant Dick's plant stand looks great huh...

Jan. 12, 2008 picture

Here's Blake... he's Jill's youngest... and soooooo 2. He likes to hide under the basket. He likes to think that we don't notice him. He has the cutest little laugh. He doesn't say much, but he is definitely the loudest person in the house. He got hurt the other day and I was the closest person to him... I picked him up and he let me help him. Then when he was all better... he wouldn't let my put him down. It made me feel good. He likes me.

For a long time I wondered why there were so many birds here. Then a friend told me... Bird's fly south for the winter. Wow... I'm in the south. Weird. huh... Anyway, there are so many of them that it's scary sometimes. Like a scary movie. Here are tons and tons of birds. TONS!!!

I took this picture while I was waiting in traffic. SCARY BIRDS.
All of those dots are birds... tons of birds.

Jan. 10, 2008 picture

Here is the CASA office. This where we do our training and get to help kids. My CASA kid is doing great... we go back to court in March. This building is down town in a kind of scary neighborhood. But they do good work there. The building itself is neat.

Here is a "NOT" so nice little friend that was in our kitchen. This was taken at about 4am... I got some good detail. (cool huh) After I took this picture I killed it. The next picture is guts... that means it wouldn't be in my house anymore. :)

On Monday... (the 7th) I hurt my knees... BAD. I was running and they started hurting, I thought I could just run through it and it would go away... NOPE... I made them worse by ignoring them. Now I'm grounded from running until they don't hurt at all. It will be a couple of weeks. I was really discouraged. But, now I'm doing Physical Therapy and they are teaching me good, right ways to strengthen my body. I'm going to be a lean, mean, "some kind" of machine. Anyway, here is me icing my knees in my bed. The party sheets are cute too, huh...

Just a funny picture I took of Ethan before I left Idaho... he's looking out the back of the Audi after we had pizza. Cute isn't he ;)

Here's my picture for Jan. 7, 2008. I decided awhile ago to grow my hair out. I think a before picture (really it's more like a "middle" picture) would be nice to compare to later. So here I am.

Also, I've been running for one week now. I don't feel like I'm going to die anymore. My legs don't hurt and we (Jill and I) are doing great. We have a goal and we're working hard to accomplish it. I'm doing great:)

Here is the picture for Jan. 6, 2008. I went to a Mystery dinner. It was so cool. There were 4 couples and me. But it was fun. We all dressed up like our charachter... like a indian maid, a sheriff, and we had a Can-can girl... this is my friend Tilane... she looked great. You can't see her skirt very well, but it was HUGE. When she sat down it would fly up into her face. Very funny. Her husband, Brad is the one kissing her, was the barber. Everyone played along great. I ended up being the murderer. I was the daughter of the victim and the person everyone loved and left their money too. It was even funner that it was my character who did "IT". I had a great time.

Here is Jan. 5, 2008 picture... There are a million birds here. They flock to the tops of buildings and swarm into trees... it looks like a scary movie or something. It took me awhile to figure out why there were so many of them. BIRDS FLY SOUTH FOR THE WINTER. OHHH!

Anyway, here are some of them on the top of Walmart.

Jan. 3, 2008

A picture a day 2008

This is a new year... I have a goal of taking a picture everyday. I've already missed a day... oh well... but I'm still going to do it.
Jan. 1, 2008...Here are my wonderful plants...
Jan. 3, 2008... then here is my sad, sad, plant... it was outside and I brought it in so it wouldn't get too cold. Although that's pretty pathetic to think that it would be cold enough to do much to anything in Texas. The bugs aren't even phased by the cold here.
Anyway, my plant is still sad... I'm not sure what to do about it.
Jan. 4, 2008... I have a bruise... I have to document it. It doesn't happen very often. I went to the doctor yesterday, and they took blood. My leg is going to be fine. When I fell off the ladder this summer, I bruised my leg REALLY bad and it healed. But, while I was in Idaho for Christmas it got very hurty again... so I went to the doc to see what was up... I'm going to be fine. And I'm glad to know that I'm not just being a weeny. I have meds to make the swelling go down and heal the muscle. I'm good.
